In these days of contaminated food, high shipping costs, concern for a healthy food supply and our environment, Lisa?s Organics is a company that is a welcome exception.
Lisa?s Organics frozen foods are produced on organically certified farms in the U.S. and Canada and now are increasing their sustainability through a partnership with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF). This includes offsetting 100 percent of the electricity used at its corporate office as well as the electricity used to process and package its frozen organic fruits and vegetables with Renewable Energy Certificates, also called Green Tags. Lisa?s Organics purchase will support enough clean energy to power over 1,000 U.S. homes for one month.
"BEF makes it simple for a small business and consumer to transform their behavior and take action. They worked with us to help us calculate and understand our carbon footprint," said Lisa?s Organics Founder Mark Griffin.
As part of its commitment to educate its customers, each line of Lisa?s Organics products features a "Green Tip" on the package to inspire people to do something to help green up their life, things anyone can do to reduce their environmental impact. "I like the tips like 'Wear flip flop sandals so you won?t have to wash as many socks and don't forget to only wash full loads of laundry,"' said Griffin.
